BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — Miguel Brindisi has been confirmed as the new coach of Argentine club Huracan, a move that comes less than a day after Hector Rivoira was fired.
It will be Brindisi's second time in charge of Huracan following a stint in 2002. Brindisi is a former Huracan and Boca Juniors player. He is expected to take over on Wednesday.
Huracan has won only two of seven games in the Argentina Apertura tournament. it lost 3-0 to Gimnasia last time out.
I remember hearing something about Huracan team when I was in Argentina. It is true that all Latinamerica is part of the soccer culture and baseball is only reserved for the United States and maybe Canada. When I travelled to Argentina, I realized how much people loved football because every Sunday (day of the most important games of the week) the bar that was near my buenos aires apartment was full of fans watching tv and drinking beer screaming to the players. That is what I call passion!
